Golf legend Annika Sorenstam credits Caitlin Clark with bringing a new demographic to women's golf

While some in the WNBA may not recognize it, LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam certainly does: Caitlin Clark is great for womens sports.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Sorenstam talked about how Clark has helped bring a new demographic into

“She’s obviously very popular. She brings a new demographic to the game, and when she’s there playing the pro-am, I mean we have a lot of people attending and wanting her autograph. Following her and every shot, and she’s just great for women’s sports and we love to have her a part of it,” Sorenstam told Fox News Digital.

Sorenstam is playing in the American Century Championship on Friday and is one of the contenders to win the tournament. Clark cannot play in the celebrity golf tournament because of the WNBA schedule, but believes Clark would do well.

Clark has played in the ANNIKA Pro-Am, and Sorenstam has been impressed with her game.

“I think she would do quite well (at the American Century Championship.) I mean, she’s quite an athlete, as you know. That’s kind of stating the obvious. But she loves golf. She’s played golf for many years, and I know every time she gets a chance, she goes to the course,” Sorenstam told Fox News Digital.

Sorenstam is one of the favorites to win the tournament. Sorenstam, who won 72 tournaments, including 10 majors, during her illustrious career, will raise awareness for the Annika Foundation.

“We try to empower and advance young women through the but also in life, different life skills, and it’s been really rewarding and satisfying to see how far women’s golf has come and how many of these young women are pursuing their dreams. It’s been a lot of fun, and just watching the difference we’re making in these young women’s life,” Sorenstam said.

With the Stableford scoring format, Sorenstam talked about needing to be more aggressive, and pursue more birdies and eagles. The tournament will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
