North Carolina sports betting has been live since March 11, 2024, when the North Carolina State Lottery Commission licensed its first online operators. Bettors in the state can now choose from seven legal sportsbook apps.

Sports betting is legal in North Carolina for anyone over the age of 21 within the state boundaries. You can bet both online or via retail locations as of March 11, 2024.

Below is a composite list of the sports betting apps in North Carolina. This list should be used as a guide for choosing which sportsbook you want to try or which is best for you. Consider things like welcome offers, rewards, and ease of use.

North Carolina sportsbooks offer new users a few different types of welcome offers, including deposit matches, bonus bets, and bet-and-get options. Bonus bets and funds are not the same as cash, but can be used to place wagers within the app. Bet-and-get offers typically have you fund your account, place a wager, and receive a set amount of bonus funds. The deposit matches give you the same amount or a fraction of the amount that you use to fund your account. You should know that bonus bets do expire.

North Carolina sports betting first started gaining traction around 2019 when tribal lands accepted sports betting. In March 2021, in-person bets were allowed. On June 14th, 2023, House Bill 347 was signed into law by Governor Roy Cooper. March 11th 2024, saw mobile and online sports betting become live.

The Charlotte Hornets represent the city in the NBA. There is no baseball team, but they do have the Hurricanes in the NHL, and Charlotte FC for those into soccer. Of course, there are also college teams like Duke and North Carolina that command a lot of betting and sporting interest.
